The Institute of Oil & Gas Research & Hydrocarbon Studies (IOGRHS) congratulates the Federal Government of Nigeria and the very good people of Nigeria for attaining 61 years of independence. The Institute is particularly happy with Nigeria’s President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources: President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for signing into law – the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). Even though the law needs certain amendments, it will certainly help in transforming and improving the Nigerian oil and gas sector. The Institute extends warm facilitations to the Nigerian National Assembly ably led by His Excellency, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan CON, Nigeria’s Senate President and His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Olufemi Hakeem Gbajabiamila, Speaker, Nigeria’s House of Representatives for their commitment and passage of the said law. The Institute also seizes this medium to thank Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (HMSP): Chief (Dr) Timipre Marlin Sylva and his team, the Group Managing Director/CEO, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC): Engr. Mele Kyari and his team for their hard work and professional input. The PIA when fully implemented shall drive both domestic and international investment to the petroleum industry and boost the growth and development of the Nigerian economy. The Institute is working and actively involved in research assignments towards the domestic production of some technical products that shall support the conservation of Nigeria’s scarce foreign exchange and create additional employment opportunities, which is in tandem with the vision of the Muhammadu Buhari Administration of local production of goods and services in Nigeria. The Institute will hold the Product Forum “Abuja 2021”- second (2) part on Friday, October 8, 2021, by 4 pm at the NICON LUXURY ABUJA, Nigeria; sequel to additional discovery on the ongoing research project with the theme: “EXPLORATION OF THE USE OF PALMWINE AS FLUID CONTROL AGENT IN WATER-BASED DRILLING (FLUID) MUD”.The Institute will use the forum to provide updates on the ongoing research in respect of the discovery of palm-wine as a mud control substance in water-based drilling (fluid) mud. The number of persons that attended the first part of this programme was reduced drastically in conformation with the Covid 19 protocol(s). The Organising and Technical Committee of the Institute is still sticking to the Federal Government of Nigeria’s pronouncement on public gatherings. Distinguished Fellows and Professional Members of the Institute are advised to make their reservations as usual. Organizations chosen are those playing in the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, maintenance, commissioning and de-commissioning business. The invitation has been extended to other corporate bodies that are into manufacturing, product assembly, plant development, distributive trade including other sectors that are playing support service to the overall development of the oil and gas industry. Admission to this event is strictly by invitation. The Institute wishes companies attending from outside Nigeria and Abuja a very safe trip. Accommodation reservations have been made at the venue of the event. Check-in shall be on Friday, October 8, 2021.  Helpdesk is available from Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the NICON LUXURY Abuja, Nigeria in order to make attendance easy and assist participants with necessary administrative clearance. The Hotel promises to adhere strictly to all the Covid 19 protocols as outlined by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as usual.
